NCR police commanders reminded to enforce health protocols amid upsurge of Covid cases


Police Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), ordered on Tuesday, June 14, all police commanders to strictly enforce the minimum public health safety protocols amid the upsurge of Covid cases in Metro Manila.

In a statement, Natividad said they would respect whatever the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management o Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) in order to contain the spread of the virus.

"The National Capital Region Police Office reiterates the standing order to all commanders on the ground to strictly tighten the implementation of minimum health standard protocols especially the mandatory wearing of face masks and social distancing in the National Capital Region," said Natvidad.

"This is to avoid further lump on the statistics of positive cases due to reluctance of some people on the observance of these health protocols," he added.

Reports have been circulating about the supposed proposal to place Metro Manila under Covid Alert Level 2 anew after the Department of Health reocrded some 30 percent increase in the number of Covid cases from June 6 to 12.

Natvidad said they will support whatever the order of the IATF to ensure the the welfare of the public.

"We are mandated and obliged to enforce the laws and regulations of the duly constituted authorities accordingly. Thus, we solicit the cooperation of the public to be mindful and observe minimum health standard protocols especially when in crowded places. Implement self-imposed discipline like wearing of face mask and observance of social distancing at all times," said Natividad.
