TNT makes it back-to-back with Leg 4 win


ANTIPOLO CITY — TNT continued to lord over the rest of the field in the PBA 3x3 third conference after beating Terrafirma, 21-15, Sunday, June 12 to win the fourth leg crown at the Ynares Center here.

Almond Vosotros had another impressive performance, finishing with nine points, as the Tropang Giga bucked a slow start to win back-to-back leg titles and three of four this conference.

Vosotros, Lervin Flores, Samboy de Leon and Ping Exciminiano claimed the top purse of P100,000, raising TNT’s total earnings this conference to P300,000.

TNT’s latest championship came despite dropping its opening assignment Saturday against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

The Tropang Giga won the next two games, including a 21-14 win over Pioneer Pro Tibay in Pool A earlier in the day to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

After taking down Meralco in the quarters, 21-14, TNT wound up beating San Miguel Beer, 16-10, in the semis.

Terrafirma’s Shaq Alanes, Jeremiah Taladua, Red Cachuela and Jebb Bulawan settled for P50,000 after its best finish since the PBA’s halfcourt competition was launched last year.

The Dyip made it to the final for the first time after going 2-1 in Pool C before eliminating top Pool B team Cavitex, 22-20, and Limitless, 21-18, in the knockout rounds.

San Miguel Beer’s Ken Bono, Wendell Comboy, Jeff Manday and Fonso Gotladera downed Limitless’ Nico Salva, Simon Camacho, Alfrancis Tamsi and Billy Ray Robles, 16-10, to get third place.

The Beermen received P30,000 for their place in the podium.
