SCUTTLEBUTT: Sue Ramirez doesn't plan on settling down anytime soon

Sue Ramirez

Even as her relationship with boyfriend, newly-elected Victorias City (Negros Occidental) Mayor Javi Benitez, is going strong, actress Sue Ramirez says she is not ready to settle down in marriage anytime soon.

She said, “siguro a few years ago kung tinanong mo ako, gusto ko na talaga. Pero pag nagmamature ka pala nauusog ang timeline. I realized there is no timeline for me (to get married) now. I’m so lost, it’s like a quarter life crisis,” she explained laughing.

The busy actress added,  “when you’re young, gusto mong magmadali. It’s like you want to take your shot at your happy ending right away. But now, I appreciate my life more, enjoy the process, absorb everything and learn from everyone I meet. I have a better understanding of the people I interact with. So really, I have zero plans as of now of getting married.”

We spoke to Sue last week at the Studio 2 of ABS CBN compound in Quezon City during the media conference of the soap opera “The Broken Marriage Vow.” Sue portrays the role of Lexy Lucero in the soap, the mistress of the character played by Zanjoe Marudo. The other stars of the soap are Jodi Sta. Maria and Zaijian Jaranilla, among others.

We were impressed at how Sue was able to comprehend the intersection of her personality and the character of Lexy, and express her own take that seems to bring out the best in her.

Without revealing anything, Sue said she approves of how Lexy ended up. “I am happy for Lexy. I don’t want to give out too much (so as not to preempt the show) but I am happy with her decision,” she said.

Portraying Lexy seemed to add wisdom to Sue beyond her years. She said, “ang pinakamalaking lesson na pwedeng matutunan from Lexy is, know your self worth. You cannot love anybody else if you don’t love yourself enough. There must be a level of self love in order for you to give love to somebody else. Kung hindi mo mahal ang sarili mo, paano ka magmamahal ng iba?”

Sue went on to say that the story of “The Broken Marriage Vows” is not confined solely to the issues of cheating and infidelity. She said, “we can also focus on the characters and behavior of the characters. Each one is different. The reaction to Every character’s reaction is based on where they came from. Lahat ng taong nakikilala natin, they maybe facing silent battles that we know nothing about. We really cannot understand the totality of it all, so its not up to us to judge what people do to themselves, mali man o hindi. Si Lexy  made a mistake pero dapat hukayin san nanggaling yun and saan ba niya gustong pumunta. Nasa kanya ang decision. If it doesn’t work out, then she needs to move on. Life doesn’t stop when we commit one mistake.”

Sue is currently seen in the new movie with Diego Loyzaga called “How to Love Mr. Heartless” on Vivamax. She is also in preparation for two new movies soon – one with Iza Calzado, Isabelle Daza and Jake Cuenca and another one which she is not yet at a liberty to give details to.

Aside from iWantTFC and Viu, “The Broken Marriage Vow” can also be seen on weeknights at 9:20 PM on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, and Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

BTS CLOSE THEIR ‘CHAPTER 1’ WITH ‘YET TO COME’

We carried in this corner two weeks ago, the June 10 release of BTS’s comeback outing “Proof,” and so, along with their adoring fans all over the world, history happened (again) last Friday, just as it should.

The new album and its carrier single “Yet To Come” posted the second highest first-day sales on Hanteo (South Korean charting system counting album sales) at 2.1M sales. The number one spot, however, is still being held by BTS’s album “Map of the Soul:7” at 2.6M first-day sales.

There is also the element of melancholy in the new release as it comes off as a send-off of sorts knowing that BTS is closing their first chapter to make room for exciting new beginnings which have yet to be revealed.

For now, j-hope is set to become the first Korean artist to headline Lollapalooza at the end of July joining big names Metallica, Green Day, Dua Lipa, and J. Cole, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Baby, and Kygo as headliner.

In the meantime, BTS Army is looking forward to celebrating release of “Proof” with a live online show on the day of their 9th anniversary on June 13 (8PM KST on their BANGTANTV YouTube page), waiting on possible world tour announcements, and maybe even solo mixtape releases from the members.

FROM THE GRAPEVINE

We were told that this budding loveteam, which gained popularity in the spin-off show of a successful series from a major network, will no longer have projects together.

The grapevine revealed to us that the network executives decided to pull the plug on the loveteam’s future shows after the leading man reportedly got his non-show biz girlfriend pregnant.

The grapevine is still unsure whether the leading man will still continue with his show biz career after this development in his personal life.

On the other hand, the matinee idol’s high profile father was reported to be ecstatic over the prospect of becoming a grandfather soon. “E di masaya, magiging lolo na ko,” he was quoted as saying.
