The province of Bulacan, celebrated the 124th Philippine Independence Anniversary at the Barasoain Church in the City of Malolos on Sunday, June 12.
"Freedom for revival after darkness will always be a chapter worth remembering for each and every Filipino. This memorable event serves as an inspiration and a strong catalyst that could foster unity and change in the country." Governor Daniel Fernando said before a hundred "Bulakenyos" including Bulakenyo veterans.
Fernando thanked the local officials and the Bulakenyos who attended the commemoration of the 124th Philippine Independence Day anniversary anchored on the theme "Kalayaan 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas (Rise Towards The Challenge of a New Beginning)".
He said that the Barasoain church contributed to the importance of the declaration of Philippine Independence on June 12, 1898, in Kawit, Cavite.
Fernando shared that the struggles to regain the country's freedom seized by the Spaniards for more than 300 years culminate in Bulacan.
The governor said this will always be a part of awareness to Bulakenyos and a fountain of bountiful inspiration for the next generation in the province of Bulacan.
Fernando, along with Vice Governor-elect Alexis C. Castro, outgoing Mayor Gilbert "Bebong" Gatchalian, Central Luzon regional Police director Matthew P. Baccay, Bishop Dennis Villarojo, and Rosario V. Sapitan, of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, led the Flag raising and wreath-laying ceremony in front of the statue of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo as a tribute to the first president of the Philippines.
The Bulacan governor said that after two years of the pandemic, the whole nation, little by little, will open the flow of life once again, honored, and will slowly rise.
He said the Bulacan government is strong-minded for strengthening economic enforcement by making the province into a greater venue for investors doing business and giving jobs to unemployed Bulakenyos. (Freddie C. Velez)
