Security guard who killed pawnshop manager in Aklan arrested in Pasig

ILOILO CITY – A security guard who allegedly killed a pawnshop manager in Kalibo, Aklan was arrested in Pasig City last Thursday, June 9.

In a report, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 (Western Visayas) said that Mark Archie Torrefiel was arrested at around noon.

The 31-year-old security guard fled after a June 5 robbery incident at RD Pawnshop in which he stabbed to death manager Bonna Hercia Ambay.

Torrefiel was arrested in a joint operation by various units of the Philippine National Police (PNP), including the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Kalibo PNP, with assistance from the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA).

The suspect’s arrest was welcomed by residents of Kalibo, where calls for justice were mounting and mayor-elect Juris Sucro offering a reward of P30,000 for Torrefiel’s arrest.

Torrefiel will be transported back to Kalibo to face criminal charges for robbery and homicide.
