Live-in partners found dead in Binondo home

A woman was stabbed to death by her live-in partner who later ended his life by drinking a poisonous substance inside their home in Binondo, Manila early Thursday morning, June 9, police said.

Senior Master Sgt. Jansen Rey San Pedro, investigator on case, said the victims -- Aileen, 28, and Christian, 35, a delivery service rider -- were found dead inside their room.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Old Matadero St. in Binondo, Manila.

In an interview with DZBB, Lt. Magno Gallora, Manila Police District (MPD) Station 11 commander, said that based on their initial investigation, the couple had a quarrel in their room the night before the incident.

The police report also indicated that the couple drank alcohol that evening.

Later, the grandmother asked the couple's seven-year-old son to check on them, only to find the couple already dead, Gallora added.

Police said the couple's six- year-old daughter witnessed the crime.

"Sa aming imbestigasyon, base sa anak na babae na six years old, nakita niya raw na pinagsasaksak daw noong tatay niya ang kanyang nanay. Matapos pagsaksakin ito, uminom din 'yung tatay niya ng puti daw sa maliit na bote, na nadiskubre natin ay silver cleaner (In our investigation, their six-year-old daughter said she saw her father stabbing her mother. After stabbing the mother, her father drank a white liquid substance inside a small bottle, which we later discovered as silver cleaner)," Gallora said.

Police said Burgos bumped his head into cemented wall before drinking the silver cleaner.

The MPD Forensic Unit led by Lt. Rex T. Manlansing processed the scene as officers of the San Nicolas Police Station (PS-11) cordoned the area.

The woman bore multiple stab wounds while the man had several lumps on his head.

The victims' bodies were brought to the Funeraria Cruz for autopsy.

Gallora said they are looking into jealousy as possible motive behind the crime as the man suspected that his live-in partner had an illicit affair.

The victims' son and daughter are currently in the custody of their grandmother.

The case is still under investigation, police said.
