CEBU CITY – Some Covid-19 vaccinations sites here will be closed starting Friday, June 17, as fewer people are showing up to get inoculated.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, officer-in-charge of the City Health Department, said it has been observed lately that the number of people visiting vaccination sites has been dwindling.

With this, the vaccination sites at Robinson’s Cybergate, University of Cebu-Banilad Campus, and Ayala Central Bloc will be closed starting Friday, June 17, said Ibones.

Ibones added that the vaccination sites at SM Seaside, Robinsons Galleria, and SM City Cebu will remain open but only on their scheduled days.

Ibones said that with the closing of some vaccination sites, the city will have more health workers for its campaign against dengue.

“The personnel who were assigned at the vaccination sites that will be closed will augment our personnel in the barangays for our campaign against dengue,” said Ibones.

Cebu City is one of the areas in Central Visayas that has been experiencing a spike in dengue cases.

Ibones said the city will continue to encourage the public to have themselves vaccinated. “For the vaccinated, we are also encouraging them to take the booster shot for added protection against Covid-19,” said Ibones.

For those who really opt not to take the vaccine, they must strictly observe the basic health protocols to avoid contracting the highly transmissible Covid-19, Ibones said.

As of May 30, this city has administered first doses of Covid-19 to 696,613 individuals and second doses to 675,782 individuals.
