Ai Ai Delas Alas, Darryl Yap declared 'persona non grata' for disrespecting QC LGU official seal

The Quezon City Council on Tuesday, June 7, approved the resolution declaring cinematographer Darryl Yap and actress Ai-Ai Delas Alas as "persona non grata” for disrespecting the city's official seal.

This, after the city government’s official seal was seen in the video of Delas Alas posted on social media.

The resolution was filed by District IV Councilor Ivy Lagman.

"The malicious and unscrupulous defacing of the official seal of Quezon City ridiculed and casted dishonor to it, causing insult to the noble representation of the seal,” Lagman stressed.

Lagman’s resolution stemmed from the two-minute, 21-second video posted on Yap's Vincentiments' Facebook Page, featuring Delas Alas portraying a character named “Ligaya Delmonte”.

Shown in the background of the video is the official triangular seal of the city, with its visual elements edited and defaced.

“The people of Quezon City will not let anyone disgrace the official seal of Quezon City for personal and selfish interests,” she added, pointing out that the seal has been the official coat of arms of the city since it was approved by the Office of the President and adopted by the City Council on Feb. 3, 1997, through Resolution No. 10320, S-1975.
