Over 800 entrepreneurs benefit from GREAT Women Project 2
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), together with its partner agencies, have assisted more than 800 women entrepreneurs in growing their businesses amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The project is called “Supporting Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) in the Philippines.” It is also known as the GREAT Women Project 2.
“PCW, with Global Affairs Canada, and the partner agencies worked with 831 women entrepreneurs in growing their businesses during challenging times. The project reported increases in sales, assets, and improvement in environmental management practices of at least 50 percent of the 831 assisted women micro-enterprises across nine priority regions,” said PCW in a press release issued on Monday, June 6.
Based on PCW’s report, the project successfully reached 95.85 percent or 821 of the 831 target enterprises. Of this number, nine were chosen as “role models” based on performance, ability in expanding market and product lines, as well as implementation of learnings.
While it has extended help to many women entrepreneurs and after over six years of service, PCW, together with Global Affairs Canada, and partner agencies have concluded the project. The “project exit” conference was held last May 31, 2022 in Quezon City.
Furthermore, despite the end of this project, PCW through its Deputy Executive Director Maria Kristine Josefina Balmes vowed to continuously work with key WEE agencies to “sustain” the gains of the GREAT Women Project 2.
