Pagdanganan trails by 17 strokes at US Women's Open


Bianca Pagdanganan limped home with a one-over-par 72 to trail 17 strokes behind solo leader Minjee Lee after three rounds in the US Women’s Open Presented by Promedica in Southern Pines, North Carolina Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

Pagdanganan started off with a birdie but quickly fell into a maze of three bogeys to finish the front nine at 37.

She briefly found her way back on the 15th with a birdie 4, but followed it up with a bogey.

The Tokyo Olympian finished it off with a birdie on the par-4 18th hole to finish with a three-round aggregate of 217 at joint 46th place.

She had earlier rounds of 75 and 70.

Meanwhile, Lee tightened her grip on the top spot by firing a 67 for 200.

Carding earlier rounds of 66 and 67, Lee continued her pace by shooting five birdies against a lone bogey on the par-3 fifth hole.

The Australian currently leads closest pursuer Mina Harigae by three shots after the American slipped from the top leaderboard by posting a 70 for 203.

Bronte Law was six strokes off Lee with a 206 after a third-round 68, while tied at the crowded fourth place were Lydia Ko (66), Xiyu Lin (67), Jin Young Ko (71), amateur Ingrid Lindblad (71), Hye-Jin Choi (72) and Anna Nordqvist (72).
