Over P500 million worth of ‘shabu’ seized from two suspects nabbed in CDO operation


CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police arrested two alleged drug traders and seized half a million pesos worth of ‘shabu’ during an anti-illegal drug operation at Old Road, Purok 7, Barangay Gusa in this city on Saturday, June 4.

The Police Regional Office of Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) identified the suspects as Isidro Dela Peña, who was the subject of the operation conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-10), with the assistance of police personnel from Agora Police Station 3 and Police Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 10.

The police consider the 41-year old resident of Sitio Pinikitan, Barangay Camaman-an in this city as a high value individual owing to the amount of shabu found in his possession.

According to the police report, the raiding operatives found Dela Peña possessing six different sizes of sachets containing the alleged shabu (including the buy bust item). All in all, the alleged illegal drugs weigh more or less 120 grams with an estimated market value of P816,000.

One of the operatives who acted as buyer was able to buy one sachet of shabu worth P500 during the buy-bust where another alleged drug personality in Jemar Leopardas, 36, of Purok 7, Barangay Gusa also in this city, was also arrested.

It can be recalled that the RPDEU-10 also confiscated a total of more or less 500 grams of illegal drugs, with an estimated market value of P340,000 during their drug operation at Phase 1, Zone 5-A, NHA, Barangay Kauswagan on May 29.

Aside from the illegal drugs, the police operatives also confiscated two cellular phones which they can use for their investigation.

The suspects are currently detained at the custodial facility of Agora Police Station 3 and waiting for the filing of cases in violation of the Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
