Sufficient number of cops to secure BBM, Sara oath-taking- PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has assured of enough number of policemen who will secure the oath-taking of president-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. and vice president-elect Sara Duterte.

Marcos will take oath at the National Museum in Manila on June 30 while Duterte is expected to have her inauguration on June 19 in Davao City.

Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano De Leon said coordination meetings will be held between the PNP, the management of the National Museum and other concerned agencies to discuss the security plans for the inauguration. The same coordination, he said, is being done for Durterte.

The move is in compliance with the order of PNP Officer-In-Charge Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr to ensure peace and oder by implementing the necessary measures to ensure peace and order throughout the activity.

While Danao said they have not received any serious threat for the two separate activities, De Leon said he PNP will not be complacent in terms of security.

He said they still have to make sure that the two activities will be peaceful and orderly although those who will attend are supporters of the Marcos and Duterte.

"The PNP has been involved in these kinds of activities several times in the past, so we are banking on our experience to make sure that the two inaugurations will be smooth as planned," said De Leon.

"There will be security adjustments depending on the situation on the ground, but we are confident that all of these will be discussed during the coordination meetings," he added.
