LTFRB releases P1.17B fuel subsidy to over 180,000 PUV drivers, operators
More than 180,000 operators and drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) already received fuel subsidy from the national government, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Thursday, June 2.
In a statement, the LTFRB said the distributed fuel subsidy to 180,061 as of June 1 is equivalent to P1.17 billion.
It added that a total of 9,552 drivers of delivery services already received the assistance.
A total of 264,578 PUV operators and drivers are the intended beneficiaries of the fuel subsidy program of the national government.
The LTFR vowed to expedite the release of the fuel subsidy to the remaining beneficiaries, numbering to 84,157 in the coming weeks.
Of the figure, 57,841 names were already forwarded to the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) for the processing.
The agency also disclosed that 12,986 drivers of delivery services were already submitted to the LBP.
The national government has released multi-billion peso fund assistance to the transport sector amid the series of big-time oil price hikes.
