Korean actress Seo Ye-ji’s new drama ‘Eve’ premieres at No. 1 in ratings


Korean actress Seo Ye-ji’s new drama premiered at No. 1 in the ratings and ushered in her comeback in two years.

According to Nielsen Korea, Seo Ye-ji’s comeback project on tvN, “Eve,” grabbed the No. 1 spot among cable TV shows on June 1 with a nationwide rating of 3.644 percent. The first episode was watched by 763,000 people.

In comparison, her last drama “It's Okay to Not Be Okay,” which also aired on tvN, premiered on June 20, 2020 at No. 1 with a nationwide rating of 6.093 percent.

In the Seoul metropolitan area, “Eve” got a rating of 3.256 percent and placed second among cable TV programs on June 1. It was watched by 327,000 people.

“Eve” was originally scheduled to premiere on May 25 but was pushed back by one week.

“Eve,” dubbed as “the most intense and deadly revenge drama that will destroy 1 percent of Korea,” stars Seo Ye-ji as Lee Ra-el, Park Byung-eun as Kang Yoon-gyeom, Lee Sang-yeob as Seo Eun-pyung and Yoo Sun sa Han So-ra.

Lee Ra-el who is set for revenge. After the shocking death of her father when she was a child, she becomes the main character in a 2 trillion won ($1.56 billion) divorce case.

She seduces Kang Yoon-gyeom, the CEO of a top company who has been faithful to his family but falls for Lee Ra-el, resulting in the divorce case. Han So-ra is Kang Yoon-gyeom’s wife while Seo Eun-pyeong is the youngest member of the National Assembly, Korea’s legislature.

Seo Ye-ji was on hiatus last year after being embroiled in a controversy involving her former boyfriend, actor Kim Jung-hyun.
