Commuters should expect tighter security measures at MRT-3 stations
The Metro Rail Transit-3 advised its passengers of stricter security measures in all its stations amid the bomb attacks in Mindanao.
MRT Officer-In-Charge General Manager Michael J. Capati said all passengers should expect stricter inspection of bags and baggage and even body check for possible carrying of firearms, bladed weapons and other security risk materials.
"Aside from passengers, all our personnel are also subjected to that inspection," said Capati.
He said they also seek assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard for the deployment of K-9 units.
He added that they will also be deploying train marshals.
Capati also reminded passengers to refrain from carrying explosives and incendiary substances; flammable materials and poisonous gas and chemicals like pesticides, muriatic acid, liquid hydrogen and others.
"We are asking for the cooperation of the public. This is to ensure safe travel," said Capati.
The MRT-4 is currently offering free ride to all its passengers until June 30.
