Solar power project launched in 14 public schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite


DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite – The local government unit (LGU) here inaugurated a program that will use solar energy in 14 public schools on Monday, May 30.

Green E-Skwela: Energy Sustainability Project for the Public Schools is a joint project of the City of Dasmariñas and Meralco subsidiary Spectrum Inc.

Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga and Dasmariñas Lone District Rep. Pidi Barzaga led the simultaneous launching ceremony at Francisco E. Barzaga Integrated High School, together with Meralco First Vice President and Spectrum President Ferdinand O. Geluz.

In a Facebook post, Austria-Barzaga said the project would have a significant impact on providing clean and sufficient power to the people while helping save the planet.

Aside from Francisco E. Barzaga Integrated High School, solar panels were also installed in Dasmariñas Elementary School, Francisco E. Barzaga Memorial School, Congressional Integrated High School, Dasmariñas West National High School, Dasmariñas North National High School, and Dr. Jose P. Rizal Elementary School.

Also part of the solar energy program are Dasmariñas Integrated High School, San Nicolas Elementary School, Sta. Cristina Elementary School, Paliparan III Senior High School, Paliparan National High School, Paliparan III Elementary School, and Paliparan II Integrated High School.
