Korean actress Kim Sae-ron's blood alcohol level in drunk driving incident revealed
Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, who was caught drunk driving by the police in Seoul last May 18, was revealed to have blood alcohol concentration that will merit the revocation of her driver’s license.
Last May 18, an intoxicated Kim Sae-ron, star of the drama “The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim” and movie “A Man from Nowhere,” was driving in Cheongdam, Gangnam in Seoul when she crashed and hit a guardrail, tree and a transformer.

After the incident, she drove away but was caught by the police. She refused to take a breathalyzer and asked the police for her to undergo a blood alcohol test and was taken to a nearby hospital. Her blood sample was sent to the National Forensic Service for analysis.
On June 1, the results of her blood test were revealed by the police. The Gangnam Police Station was notified of the results on May 31.
The police said the test results showed Kim Sae-ron’s blood alcohol concentration on May 18 was over 0.08 percent.
According to the Korea Road Traffic Authority website, a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or more is a ground for the revocation of a driver’s license.
“Kim Sae-ron was so drunk that she couldn’t even speak properly,” the police previously told Korean media about her condition when she was caught.
Based on the Korean law Road Traffic Act, “The threshold for the state of intoxication at which a person is prohibited from driving a motor vehicle, etc. . . . shall be not less than 0.03 percent of blood-alcohol concentration.”
“Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) is a measure of alcohol in the blood as a percentage. It is calculated in grams per 100 mL of blood, so a BAC of 0.08 means your blood is 0.08% alcohol by volume,” according to the University of Toledo website.
Kim Sae-ron’s agency, Gold Medalist, told Korean media on June 1, "Currently, we have not received the results of the blood test from the police. We will faithfully receive the results of the investigation as soon as the investigation schedule is decided. We apologize once again."
She may also face imprisonment and fine for drunk driving.
Under the Road Traffic Act, “A person whose blood alcohol content is not less than 0.08 percent but less than 0.2 percent shall be punished by imprisonment with labor for not less than 1 year but not more than 2 years or a by fine not less than 5 million won but not exceeding 10 million won .”
The police are planning to send Kim Sae-ron to the prosecution on charges of drunk driving and non-action after an accident, Korean media reported. A passenger who was with the actress will also be sent to the prosecution on charges of aiding drunk driving.
Because of the drunk driving incident, Kim Sae-ron withdrew from the SBS drama “Trolley.” She also stopped filming for the Netflix drama “Hunting Dogs” after the incident.
