LAGUNA – The local government unit (LGU) of Biñan City has received an “unmodified opinion” or the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (COA) for 2021.
According to the Independent Auditor's Report received by the city government on Monday, May 30, Biñan's financial statements were “in accordance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs).”
Biñan City Accountant Noel Velasco said the LGU always ensures that all financial transactions are in line with the approved annual appropriation, are supported by necessary documents, and are recorded in appropriate journals in a timely manner.
In a statement to the media, Mayor Arman Dimaguila said the audit rating is proof of the city government's good and honest management of public funds.
"Tayo ay nasa huling termino na ng ating panunungkulan bilang mayor. Mas gagalingan pa natin. Confident ako na ganun din ang gagawin ng bawat department head ng City Government of Biñan (We are in our last term of service as mayor. We will work harder. I am confident that all department heads of the City Government of Biñan will do the same)," Dimaguila said.
The mayor also thanked the city government's employees for their concerted efforts.
"Lahat ng awards natin mula nang umupo tayo noong 2016 hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay joint efforts ng bawat departamento ng LGU. Maraming maraming salamat sa inyo at sa lahat ng kawani ng ating lungsod (All the awards we received since we came into office in 2016 until today were due to the joint efforts of all LGU departments. Thank you to all of you and the employees of the city government)."
