Artes warns MMDA personnel vs use of unlicensed motor vehicles
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) warned its personnel against the use of unregistered motor vehicles following a viral video on Facebook which showed one of its enforcer riding a motorcycle with no license plate.
MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said he had already issued a memorandum regarding the use of unregistered personal vehicles and those without the required license plate.
Based on the memo issued on Wednesday, June 1, MMDA personnel were reminded to be role models of following traffic rules and regulations and other laws.
"The MMDA is mandated to strictly implement traffic rules and regulations. Hence, we should lead by example," Artes said.

In the viral Facebook post, it showed an MMDA traffic enforcer, later identified as Wilfredo Ordoña, driving a motorcycle without license plate and turned out to be unregistered on the northbound lane of EDSA-Boni last Monday, May 30.
Artes said he has instructed Atty. Victor Maria Nuñez, Director for Enforcement of MMDA Traffic Discipline Office (TDO), to penalize Ordoña, currently assigned at TDO Parking Management Team, by issuing traffic citation tickets for his violations.
Artes also reminded all employees to refrain from engaging in any unlawful activity.
"Violators will not only be issued the corresponding citation ticket but could also face administrative sanctions such as suspension and outright dismissal for contract of service personnel," Artes said.
"If proven guilty, we will file the necessary administrative charges, whether permanent, casual, or on job order status, subject to applicable rules and regulations," he added.
