ALCALA, Pangasinan -- A responsible child would always help his parents no matter how difficult – and dangerous – the task would be.
This was the case of Jozzel John Rigor, 8 years old, and a second grader from Brgy. San Vicente in this town who, together with his three cousins, decided to help his parents by bringing their cow to wash the animal in the Agno River in Barangay Laoac.
However, the boy did it without seeking permission from his guardian.
And the sad thing happened because they also swam in the river without thinking of the danger.
The boy drowned after he was carried away by the strong current.
“Tulala ang mga kasamang bata makaraan ang pangyayari at sa kanilang murang edad na hindi alam ang gagawin sa pagkabigla,” a resident in Barangay San Vicente said.
Residents called the police for help to retrieve the boy, but was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bayambang District Hospital.
