BACOLOD CITY – A 15-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by a man in front of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) in Barangay Villamonte here last Sunday, May 29, due to series of altercation between their groups.

The name of the minor victim, a Grade 8 student, was withheld.

According to Police Lt. Greeky Cayao, deputy commander of the Bacolod Police Station 4, the victim, along with his 14-year-old male friend, were strolling around the area when he was reportedly tailed by the suspect identified as Jorebel Datulayta, 21, of Barangay Alijis here.

Cayao said Datulayta stabbed the victim on his back which was witnessed by the victim’s friend.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here while the suspect was later arrested at the back of the BCGC.

The BCGC grounds are full of people during weekends, as families and friends would usually hang out there.

Cayao said that when Datulayta probably saw an opportunity, he targeted the victim. Police discovered Datulayta's message on their group on social media saying that, "Diin na kamo? May nabuno na kami d isa, ka bilog" (Where are all of you? We have stabbed one here).

Cayao said the minor's group and Datulayta's group had previous altercations which probably triggered Datulayta to allegedly commit such violence.

Cayao said that murder charges will be filed against the suspect who denied the accusations against him in a media interview.
