Police Regional Office-3 seeks to continue internal cleansing program: BGen. Baccay
CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A total of 495 police personnel had been dismissed from service in region 3 since the Police Regional Office Region 3 started to rid its ranks of scalawags in 2016 in line with the directives of Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge chief General Vicente Danao Jr.
Now, the regional office wants to sustain its campaign as it is, in the words of regional director Brigadier General Matthew P. Baccay, ‘the best way to regain the public’s trust and confidence.’
"We will continue to weed out hoodlums and punish the undisciplined among our ranks through the strict application of the punitive sanctions for violations of PNP rules and regulations and at the same time intensified counter-intelligence efforts against illegal activities of PNP personnel are being undertaken,” said Baccay.
According to a report gathered from PRO3, from 2016 to date, a total of 3,942 administrative cases have been filed against 6,236 erring PRO3 personnel.
Around 880 of them were Police Commissioned Officers and 5,319 are Police Non-Commissioned Officers while 37 were Non-Uniformed Personnel which comprises a nominal 47% of the total number of PRO3 workforce which is 13,131.
Based on records from PRO3’s Discipline Law and Order Section (DLOS), the primary unit tasked to impose disciplinary action against erring policemen, there were 495 PNP personnel who were dismissed from the police service.
About 536 were suspended, 55 were meted with demotion, 58 was forfeited of their salary and 78 were reprimanded.
Meanwhile, 4,932 were exonerated from their administrative cases while the remaining have yet to be resolved and awaiting decisions.
BGen. Baccay said that those meted with disciplinary actions were given all due process in the duration of the investigation before final decisions were released.
