PNP ready to send augmentation forces for Marcos, Sara inauguration


The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to send augmentation forces in areas where the inauguration of president-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. and vice president-elect Sara Duterte.

The PNP is anticipating a separate inauguration, with Duterte expected to do it earlier, June 19, in Davao City.

"For the inauguration of both our president-elect and vice president-elect, definitely the PNP is ready to respond to any eventuality and as matter of fact we have been coordinating to the different focal persons to ensure safety and security regardless of where they want to hold the inauguration," said PNP Officer-In-Charge Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr.

"If the need arises we will augment," he stressed.

But Danao said they have not monitored any threat for the inauguration of the two officials.

"As of now we have not received any serious threat. However, we should not be very complacent considering that these our top leaders of the land. We should always be on alert," said Danao.

For his part, Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, chief of the PNP-Public Information Office, said they are ready to assist the Presidential Security Group in securing the two events through the PNP's Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG).

"There was already coordination with the PSG on the deployment. The number of security personnel is kept confidential due to security purposes," said Alba.
