The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) met on May 24 to propose the latter’s project called “Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K)” regularization and promotion into a full-fledged banner program of the department.

They also plan to ensure the continuity of the program which currently benefits the Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).
It focuses on poverty alleviation by developing the Ancestral Domains (AD) of ICCs/IPs through agriculture.
This three-year special program of DA provides agricultural and fisheries-related livelihood opportunities, investments, and other services through targeted Community Needs Assessment (CAN).
NCIP was represented by Bureau Director, Attorney Geroncio R. Aguio, Division Chief, Ms. Glenda Alcantara-Pua, and DMO III, Ms. Dana Buenaobra-Lim, of the Office on Socio-Economic Services and Special Concerns. Meanwhile, DA was represented by the DA-4K Program Director, Mr. Ervannie Jay P. Belarmino, Assistant Program Director, Ms. Lucia A. Campomanes, and Mr. Joel Memita. (Luisa Cabato)
