China Bank launches app for opening accounts

China Banking Corporation has launched a mobile phone app called China Bank START to make it convenient, easy, and affordable for customers to open a new account without having to visit a branch.

The bank said it is so easy to open a new China Bank account using the app as all it takes is just one valid ID and a selfie. It is also very affordable as there is no initial deposit required.

“Our aim is to make banking more inclusive and convenient with robust digital solutions. China Bank START enables Filipinos wherever they are in the world, particularly those who don’t have a China Bank account yet, to easily and securely open an account using a mobile phone,” said China Bank Chief Digital Officer Manuel C. Tagaza.

He added that, “We removed the barriers to account opening to encourage more Filipinos to start banking with China Bank and securing their financial future.”

Filipinos 18 years old and above, without an existing China Bank account but with an active mobile number and e-mail address and a permanent Philippine address, can open a China Bank ATM Peso Savings Account or a China Bank Overseas Kababayan Savings Account (for OFWs and OFW beneficiaries) using the app.

Accounts opened via China Bank START can be used to transfer and receive funds, reload (mobile, game, or toll credits), pay bills, and more via China Bank Mobile App.

China Bank START is designed with the latest identity verification and security technologies. It is available for free download on the App Store and Play Store.
