Benguet PPO provincial director Col. Reynaldo Pasiwen did not reveal the names of the rebels for security reasons.

Pasiwen said one rebel is a 58-year old male who is a resident of Tangtangbawan, Naguilian, Salapadan, Abra, and a member of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) based in Ba-ay, Boliney, Malibcong and Salapadan, Abra.

He surrendered to the operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit on May 25. He turned over one Armscor 202 caliber 38 SPL revolver, with no ammunition and two rifle grenades with housing.

The other rebel returnee was also a male, 48 years old, and resident of Kasakgudan, San Ramon East, Manabo, Abra. He surrendered to operatives of Benguet 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.

He surrendered one homemade 12-gauge shotgun with three ammunition, two rifle grenades with bull trap, and MK-5 fragmentation grenade.

On May 26, 2022, both individuals were presented to Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas at Provincial Capitol wherein they received relief assistance.

Pasiwen said the voluntary surrender of the said individuals was the result of the Benguet Philippine National Police’s diligence in the conduct of intelligence-driven operations in relation to the implementation of Dumanon Makitongtong program.

“We encourage the other members of the CTGs (Communists Terrorist Groups) to surrender to the authorities, the government is more than willing to accommodate you” Pasiwen added.
