Mona Alawi returns to acting

Mona Alawi, younger sister of hottie Ivana Alawi, is returning to the small screen.

She is to portray a younger version of her sister's character in "A Family Affair."

It is her first-ever project under ABS-CBN.

Though known to most nowadays simply as Ivana's cute young sister, once upon a time, Mona was actually more popular than Ivana is now, appearing in several GMA shows.

Real name Mona Marbella Al-Alawi, she started her showbiz career using the screen name Mona Louise Rey going on to star as Jennifer Montereal in the drama "Munting Heredera" for GMA.

She would go on to establish herself further as child actress of note portraying Fatima Salvador in "Aso Ni San Roque" for the same network.

Mona suffers from Type 1 diabetes.
