MB Daily News Update: Top Comelec officials up for confirmation

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson Saidamen Pangarungan and Commissioners Aimee Torrefranca-Neri and George Garcia are among the last appointees of President Duterte who will go through the so-called wringer at the Commission on Appointments (CA) before Congress adjourns sine die on June 3.

Pangararungan and Neri have some parties opposing their confirmation, while Garcia could have a smoother ride through the CA.

Vice President-elect Sara Duterte stood in as the mother of a graduating student in San Carlos, Pangasinan, fulfilling the request of the youngster to be at her graduation because her overseas Filipino worker (OFW)-mother could not be with her in such a memorable occasion.
