Group opposes NAIA privatization

The Samahan ng mga Manggagawa ng Paliparan Pilipinas (SMPP) vehemently opposed the proposal to sell the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in order for the country to raise fund to pay for its multi-trillion peso debt.

SMPP president Andy Bercasio said they do not see any logical reason why NAIA has to be sold since it is earning billions of pesos.

The proposal to privatized the NAIA was purportedly raised by Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez amid questions on the capability of the Philippine government to pay its local and international debt obligation.

Bercasio said the must look for other government assets instead.
