The labor room and delivery room complex of the Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH) will temporarily close from Saturday, May 28, to Sunday, May 29, due to fumigation and disinfection operations.
The Pasig Public Information Office (PIO) said in an advisory on Friday, May 27, that extreme cases of emergencies will still be accommodated by the staff of the hospital.
Pregnant women who have imminent deliveries will not be denied admission to the hospital.
For non-emergency cases, the Pasig City delivery network will coordinate with patients who may need the hospital’s services and redirect them to other available hospitals or health centers.
The labor room and delivery room complex of the PCGH will reopen on Monday, May 30.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, hospitals have been regularly conducting disinfection activities to deter the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
The labor room and delivery room complex, in particular, needs frequent disinfection to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for pregnant women and their newborns.
Fumigation activities are also being done in order to disperse and control pests that may be inhabiting areas within the hospital, preventing contamination that may lead to further infectious diseases.
