Winsome actress Kylie Padilla is ready to give her showbiz career a new lease on life, one year after the break-up of her marriage to Aljur Abrenica and meeting the demands of parenting two kids.

"It took me four years to face the cameras again with a project that I am very much proud of," said Kylie, during a Zoom media conference recently. She's referring to her forthcoming teleserye on GMA titled "Bolera" where she plays the lead role of  Joni, a highly-skilled billiards player trying to make it big in a man's world. It will be shown on primetime in the  Kapuso network starting May 30.

Kylie revealed that the long break from show business allowed her to get a good perspective of her career. She admitted that there were a few offers for her comeback role, but it was only in "Bolera" where she imagined playing the character of Joni, even though she did not know a thing about billiards.

It's a good thing she is a practitioner of Muay Thai. Kylie said in both martial arts and billiards, you need to push yourself mentally. You also need to be present in body and mind."

A particular challenge for Kylie  in the series was being made to play billiards with her left hand because she is right-handed. Nonetheless, she admits to getting excellent training from her coaches Rubilen Amit and Johann Chua who won the gold medal  in the recent 2022 SEA Games.

The reinvigorated Kylie declared that for her role in "Bolera": "I studied the script, did my homework and gave it my all." Her character Joni emerges from the streets to become a billiards champion. Her main motivation was to restore her father's honor which was tarnished due to a scandal. But before she attains success, there are several obstacles such as Miguel (played by Rayver Cruz) who is her fierce competitor and the villain, Marco ''Çobrador' Santos (played by Gardo Versoza.)

Jaclyn Jose, who also stars in "Bolera," gave credit to the chemistry and teamwork of the cast, which makes the whole series a must-see. The rest of the cast includes veteran actors Joey Marquez, Al Tantay as well as young stars Jak Roberto and Klea Pineda.
