Rodriguez, 48, is a managing lawyer of the Rodriguez & Partners Law Firm and president of the Quezon City Trial Lawyers League. He once served as the Deputy General Counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).

He is an alumnus of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and the National University of Singapore.

In preparation for the executive secretary post, Rodriguez needs to relinquish his role as chief of staff and spokesperson to Marcos.

As Marcos spokesperson, he issued statements and led press conferences on behalf of the sometimes media-shy Marcos.

“Who can say no to President-elect Bongbong Marcos? It is an honor working with him, whom I have known for a very long time and I believe will serve the country efficiently and with unquestioned devotion. It is very flattering to work alongside the best person I’ve known,” Rodriguez previously said on May 22, following his nomination for executive secretary.

This particular post, referred to as “little president", holds the highest rank in the Office of the President and serves as a member of the Cabinet of the Philippines.

Rodriguez, who is set to hold the office once confirmed by the Commission on Appointments, will be tasked with assisting the president in managing government affairs and directing the operations of the Executive Office, similar to his previous role withinithe Marcos camp.
