Showing remarkable graciousness in defeat, the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo will no longer raise any objection to all the certificates of canvass (COCs), and even withdrew its appearance in the proceedings of the Congress joint canvass of votes that will expedite the proclamation of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte as president and vice president, respectively.

Marcos lawyer Vic Rodriguez immediately extended his hand in appreciation of the gesture, which was relayed to the National Board of Canvassers by Robredo’s representative Romulo Makalintal.

And with just over five weeks in his administration, President Duterte has set into motion the transfer of power to the next administration with initial orders to prepare for the next president’s inauguration on June 30, 2022.

These are the principal stories this Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2022.

GRACE IN DEFEAT – Atty. Vic Rodriguez (right), spokesperson and chief of staff of incoming President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., extends his hand in respect and appreciation to Atty. Romulo Macalintal, representing the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo, after the latter told the joint canvassing body that they will no longer going to pose any objections to the certificates of canvass (COCs), and was also withdrawing their appearance in the canvassing of votes for president and vice president. This gesture paves the way for a faster process leading to the proclamation of Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte as President and Vice President of the country, respectively. (Noel B. Pabalate)
