Senate completes its panel for the National Board of Canvassers


The Senate leadership has completed its seven-member panel to the bicameral National Board of Canvassers (NBoC). to canvass the votes cast and proclaim the winners in the May 9, 2022 presidential and vice presidential races.

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri identified the seven as Senate President Ralph G. Recto, Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon, Zubiri and Senators Imee Marcos, Grace Poe and Pia Cayetano.

Named as alternates were Senators Manuel ‘’Lito’’ Lapid, Pia Hontiveros, Aquilino Pimentel III and Ronald dela Rosa.

The canvassing will be done at the House of Representatives complex to be convened at 10 A.M. tomorrow by

Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III and House of Representatives Lord Allan Velasco will convene both legislative houses for a joint session tomorrow morning.

After approving the rules of the joint canvassing that would probably take an hour and the NBoC doing away with particulars, the joint canvassing would begin, Zubiri said.

Zubiri said he is expecting the canvassing to be concluded in two days because they would be doing their work from 10 A.M to 10 P.M. on the first day and the same schedule the following day until all the 173 Certificates of Canvass (COCs) from the different parts of the country and coming from around the world are canvassed.

He is hopeful that the proclamation of the President-elect and Vice President elect on late Wednesday.
