PDEA dismantles drug den run by couple in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY – Anti-narcotics units from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a couple that ran a drug den, and three other drug suspects during a raid on Sunday (May 22) in Barangay 103, Palanog this city.

The raiders also found 12 grams of suspected shabu worth P81,000.

PDEA Region 8 regional director Edgar Jubay identified the suspects as Joel Belicario, 49, the alleged drug den maintainer, and his live-in partner, Lioba De Dios, 48.

The operating troops disclosed that their supposed target in the buy-bust was Belicario, but they were able to arrest his live-in partner, De Dios, who was carrying the sachet containing alleged shabu worth P1000.

Not only that. The operatives also chanced upon three more alleged drug personalities during the raid. They were identified as Gary Martinez, 44, Darwin Quijano, 40, and John Antonio Abuda, all residents of the said barangay.

Belicario was found to be having illegal items when operatives conducted a body search.

The agent recovered a plastic container with seven more sachets containing shabu, and two more large sachets inside his brown wallet along with the buy-bust money.

PDEA tagged Belicario as a high-value individual (HVI). He was arrested by the local police in 2017 for illegal drugs but his case was dismissed for unknown reason.

Charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 are being prepared by the PDEA against the arrested suspects.

The suspects are temporarily detained at their custodial facility in Palo, Leyte.
