Two Butuanons who won medals in Vietnam Games to receive cash awards from city government


BUTUAN CITY –Two Butuanons who won medals in the 31st South East Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam are set to receive cash rewards from the city government, it was learned yesterday.

City officials led by Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada congratulated Dave Cea and Breanna Labadan for their podium finishes in the biennial games among 11 nations.

Cea, a resident of Barangay Tagabaca in this region’s frontier and capital city of Butuan settled for silver in taekwondo men’s kyorugi (74 kilograms), while Labadan, a resident of Barangay Tandang Sora, also of this city, took home bronze medal in the rhythmic even in gymnastics.

For his silver finish, Cea will be rewarded with P70,000 while Labadan will get P50,000 for her bronze finish under the city ordinance.

The SP Ordinance No. 6169-2020 was passed precisely to recognize the achievements of athletes from Butuan and at the same time aims to encourage more athletes from the city to excel in their respective sports events.

“Butuan City is proud of the success of its athletes during the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam,” the City Information Office said.

“Bringing the name of Butuan, we are very proud of the success of our athletes,” said City Mayor Lagnada in a separate statement.
