Malacañang on Saturday, May 21, condoled with the family of the late "Queen of Philippine Movies," Susan Roces, whose death is “truly a big loss" for the Filipino people.
Communication Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement the Palace would like to extend its "deep condolences to the family, loved ones, close friends and colleagues on the passing of Jesusa Sonora Poe, more popularly known as Susan Roces."
Andanar said the passing of the veteran actress "is truly a big loss not only to the local entertainment industry but to all the people whose lives the beloved icon had touched and affected."
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Roces and her family as we pray for the eternal repose of her soul," Andanar added.
Malacañang joined all the other government officials, personalities, and celebrities who mourned the passing of Roces.
On Friday night, Senator Grace Poe, the adoptive daughter of the late actress, announced her mother's death and said she "passed away peacefully" and was "surrounded by love and warmth" of her relatives.
