The daily minimum wage in Region 4B and Region 12 will increase by more than P30 after their respective Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board approved the wage hike petitions by labor groups, an official of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Saturday, May 21.
Rolly Francia, director of the DOLE's Information and Public Service Division, said P35 will be added in the daily minimum wage of workers in Region 4B which covers the provinces of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.
"Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board also approved a P1,000 increase in the monthly salary of house helpers. So this will now become P4,500 a month," said Francia.
In Region 12 which covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and the city of General Santos, its Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board approved a P32 increase oin the daily minimum wage of workers.
It was not immediately clear if the wage board of Region 12 also approved an increase in the monthly salary of house helpers.
The wage increase in the two regions will take effect after the approval of the National Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board and 15 days after the official publication of the information.
Since last week, DOLE said five other regions also approved the minimum daily wage of workers-- P33 in Metro Manila, between P55 to P110 in Western Visayas, between P60 to P90 in Ilocos Region, between P50 P75 in Cagayan Valley Region and P30 in Caraga region and the integration of the P15 Cost of Living Allowance to the daily wage.
"There will be more regions to follow," said Francia.
