Two notorious drug traffickers dead, two others busted in Cotabato anti-drug operation

NORTH COTABATO -- Two notorious drug traffickers were killed while two others were arrested during the anti-drug operations launched by government’s anti-narcotics agents in Pigcawayan town on Wednesday (May 18).

Naravy Duquiatan, regional director of Philippine Drug Enforcement agency, said the suspects repulsed the raiding team composed of PDEA agents, policemen and soldiers, who stormed the suspects’ lair in Barangay Bulucayo, Pigcawayan.

She said the suspects engaged the raiding team in a gunfight which resulted in the killing of Ibrahim Samama and a certain Mamako who were tagged as members of a local drug network which supplies illegal drugs in the provinces of Cotabato, Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat.

Samama was a jail inmate who bolted the Cotabato provincial jail in Kidapawan City in January 2017 while under detention for illegal drug charges.

Two other suspects identified as Guiamed Akmad, a former drug convict who was released from detention on probationary status, and Ali Kamsa were arrested.

Authorities seized some 30 grams of ‘shabu’ worth P205,000 and assorted firearms including two M-16 Armalite rifles, an M-14 automatic rifle and two .45 caliber pistols.
