Sibol MLBB team clinches semis berth with sweep of Myanmar

The Sibol MLBB team closed out the group stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event with a 2-0 sweep of Myanmar to top its group with a 3-0 record in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Thursday, May 19 at the Vietnam National Convention Center.

It was a tale of two games as veterans in Salic "Hadji" Imam and Danerie "Wise" Del Rosario took the spotlight in the series opener before the rookies in the debuting Russel "Eyon" Usi, Dominic "Dominic" Soto and Howard "Owl" Gonzales anchored the team's come-from-behind win in the series clincher.

Wise and Hadji flashed a glimpse of their deadly form as they spearheaded the attack in Game 1. Hadji on the signature Tank Chou disrupted the jungling pattern of PS on the Dyrroth while Wise on the Baxia took advantage and seized control over the enemy’s jungle camps.

Sibol then starved the Burmese of their resources while its carry heroes on Owl’s Claude and Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna’s Mathilda quickly reached their power spikes en route to a rousing 14-4 win.

OhmyV33nus finished with a 6-2-6 KDA while Wise added a 3-0-8 line and Hadji chipped in with a 1-1-9 tally.

Myanmar, though, refused to go down without a fight as they put up a massive scare against the Filipinos in the second game. They took a huge 13-2 kill lead and looked poise to take the victory after winning several 5v5 skirmishes.

Eyon, Soto and Owl, under the guidance of skipper OhmyV33nus, however pulled off clutch plays down the stretch to secure the last two lords - including the first Lord dance which was stalled for almost six minutes before the two squads engaged for the team fight.

Sibol turned things around from that point to frustrate Myanmar with a 7-15 comeback win.

The PH bets will now face the No. 2 team in Group B which can be either Singapore or Vietnam. The two teams will still figure in a do-or-die tiebreaker match on Thursday, 9 a.m.
