House contingent to NBOC formed


A House contingent to the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) has been formed to canvass votes for the presidential and vice presidential candidates from the 2022 national elections.

Currently presiding over the NBOC are Senate President Vicente Sotto III and House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.

According to House SecGen. Mark Mendoza, the following solons will form the contingent:

House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, Cavite Rep. Crispin Remulla, Caite Rep. Abraham Tolentino; Pampanga Rep. Juan Bondoc; Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo; Ilocos Sur Rep. Kristine Singson-Meehan; and AAMBIS-OWA Party-list Rep. Sharon Garin.

Meanwhile, House Suffrage and Electoral Reforms chair Juliet Ferrer; Negros Occidental Rep. Francisco Benitez; Surigao Del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel; and Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Delipe will compose an alternate group of members for the House contingent.

It is up to Congress, both the Senate and the House, sitting as the NBOC, to canvass the votes from the presidential and vice presidential elections, and to proclaim the elected candidates; proclamation may take place as early as May 27 according to Sotto.
