Ana Patricia Non was recognized by the US Embassy on Wednesday, May 18, for her initiative in setting up a community pantry during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I presented the Ambassador’s Woman of Courage Award to Ana Patricia Non for her community pantry initiative that inspired Filipinos to combine resources and help one another during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) ad interim Heather Variava said in a Twitter post.
“Empowered and courageous women can change the world for the better,” the post also stated.
In April last year, Non set up a bamboo cart containing several vegetables and food products along Maginhawa Street in Quezon City.
Various community food drive and community pantries have sprouted around Metro Manila and in the provinces since then to give food and supplies to everyone in need for free during the pandemic.
