Though miles away, Carlos Yulo found time to share his achievement to his number one fan – his mom.
In a social media post, Angelica Yulo shared a screenshot photo of her videocall with her son showing all the medals he has collected at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Carlos even apologized for not being able to sweep all his events as he managed five gold and two silver medals.
“Yung nag-apologize siya dahil di daw nya nakuha seven gold medals at pagpasensyahan ko na lang daw at KONTI lang nakayanan nya... hahaha, Napatawa mo ko dito, anak,” Angelica wrote.
“He’s sorry because he knew that I was challenging him to sweep all the gold medals.”
Yulo became the most bemedalled Filipino athlete so far in the biennial meet after winning gold medals in individual all-around, floor exercise, still rings, vault and horizontal bar, while snagging the silver in parallel bars and team event.
Angelica congratulated his son and his coaches, Munehiro Kugimiya and Jumpei Konno, for a job well done, while also acknowledging the success and support of Gymnastics Association President (GAP) President Cynthia Carrion for the success.
“Thank you Lord for guiding my son and his teammates. We offer this to You,” Angelica said.
