The South Korean government has congratulated presumptive president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who is poised to claim the victory in the 2022 elections.

"The government of the Republic of Korea congratulates President-elect, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. on his election as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines," the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines said on Sunday, May 15.
Korea also said it is looking forward to working with the Philippines under the new administration.
"We look forward to close cooperation between the two new governments to further deepen our friendship and partnership," the embassy said.
Korea is among the various foreign governments that congratulated Marcos and expressed their intention to work with the incoming administration.
The international community also commended the Philippines for the successful conduct of the recently-concluded national elections.
The United States, Japan, China, and the European Union are among the countries that commended the Philippines and congratulated the new leadership.
