What's exciting nowadays with smartphones are their cameras. This is because it gets better and better each year. But sadly, as the cameras are getting better, smartphone prices get more expensive.

But not with the phone brand, Realme. A brand that is relatively new in the country but is making a huge leap and making their presence felt by not just offering smartphones but a wide array of devices with an affordable price range.

Recently, Realme introduced the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G with an intriguing camera setup that can help you achieve all your artisting visual concepts.

Its primary camera is 50 megapixel with a Sony IMX 766 sensor. Completing its triple rear camera is a 2 megapixels macro lens and an 8 megapixels ultra wide-angle lens. While at front is a 16 megapixels selfie camera that supports 1080p at 30fps video recording.

The highlight for me of the Realme 9 Pro+ are the Street mode options of the camera. In this option, you can choose to do a “neon trail” (perfect for those night city photography where passing cars will turn in to streaks of light), Light trail portrait (if you want to have your portrait photo taken with neon trails), Rush Hour (for that portrait that blurs the movement of everyone around you) and Light Painting (for creating art with light in the dark).

These are some of the Photography techniques that are tricky as it requires a bit more than basic knowledge in photography to achieve. So for Realme to include it in the 9 PRO+’s camera is a good job. This way users need not spend a lot of time tinkering around the camera’s settings. But of course, it still needs human intervention. If you plan to use these Street modes, it is better to mount your Realme 9 PRO+ in a tripod. This way you can make sure that the elements that you want to blur are the only ones that will be blurred.

As a photography enthusiast, the steet mode excites me because this will make me focus more on what I will photograph and less on figuring out the perfect camera settings. It also makes things portable as you now have a device that can take stunning night/low light photos without carrying your favorite but bulky DSLR.

Despite calling it a “Street mode,” these modes are usable in almost all types of locations. Testing some of the modes inside pitch black room within the Manila Bulletin building, I was able to create a few abstract art. Apart from this, was able to capture some light trails easily on my own.

Powering the Realme 9 PRO+ is a Mediatek Dimensity 920 5G Processor. It also allows you to have dual sim with dual standby and an option for a 6GB of Ram and 128GB of storage or an 8GB of Ram and a 256GB Storage. This means that the Realme 9 PRO + has enough memory eventhough it doesn’t have a memory card slot.

In terms of battery life, the Realme 9 PRO + can last you the whole day with average use. Its 4,500mAh can be juice up upto 50% in about 50 minutes. By far, this is one of the fastest charging smartphones we have tested.

One more thing I like about the Realme 9 PRO + is the fact that it still has a 3.5mm audio jack. Something that is disappearing in smartphones these days. But if you don’t feel like using earphones, the speakers at the top and buttom of the device is good enough to listen to your music.

For visuals, the Realme 9 PRO + has a 6.4 ich, 90Hz Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 X 1080 FHD+ display. It also has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that can surely resist a few scrathes.

For operating system, the Realme 9 PRO + runs with Realme UI 3.0 with the latest Android 12. This guarantees you of the latest security patches and android features. Apart from that, the Realme 9 PRO + comes with a few preinstalled application. These can be uninstalled if you don’t use those apps to free up more space.

In summary, the Realme 9 PRO +’s is a great partner for visual artists. Even if your are one of those who just want to capture memories from time to time, this smartphone is good enough as it has a lot of automatic modes you can choose from to get that perfect shot. Partnered with an afforable price tag, the appeal of the Realme 9 PRO + just gets better!
