MB Daily News Update: Canvassing for senators, party-list grps nearly done

Published May 16, 2022 04:44 pm

There are only 14 certificates of canvass (COCs) left, and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) may be able to proclaim the 12 winning senators and some of the party-list winners from the May 9 polls.

This as more ballot boxes bearing COCs and election returns have arrived at the Senate where these will be kept until both Houses of Congress convene on May 24 to start the canvassing of votes for the next president and vice president.

The OCTA Research Group has noted that there was no significant increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases a week after the May 9, 2022 elections.

And after days of searing heat all over the country, the state weather agency said various weather systems will be causing rain showers in many parts of the Philippines.

These are among the top stories this Monday afternoon, May 16, 2022.

FROM TARPS TO RICHES – Staff from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) of the Manila City Hall show how they can transform election tarpaulins into bags, tissue holders, and wallets at their office in Arroceros, Manila, on Monday, May 16, 2022. The city government has launched the ‘Tarpaulin mo, I-rerecyle ko’ program, which, it says, will benefit the different barangays in Manila. (Ali Vicoy)
