Faithful urged to follow the example of San Isidro

Rev. Fr. Dario Cabral, parish priest of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of San Isidro Labrador in Pulilan, Bulacan has called on the faithful to follow the example of San Isidro (Saint Isidore) as the Roman Catholic Church marks the feast day of the revered patron saint of farmers on Sunday, May 15.

With the theme “Tinatawag sa Kabanalan,” Fr. Cabral said everyone is invited to live according to the teachings of God as San Isidro did during his lifetime.

"We urge the faithful not only to commentate the feast of San Isidro but to live out his teachings particularly for our farmers,” the priest said over Radio Veritas.

San Isidro, the parish priest said, was hardworking, industrious and patient which was worth emulating.

"Our farmers play a big role in helping protect our God given environment. They work really hard not only for themselves but to feed their fellow Filipinos,” Fr. Cabral added.

The priest called on the faithful to unite and let go of any division that the recent election brought. “Let us be selfless like our farmers, to start thinking of others before our own personal interests,” he said.

Also known as San Isidro Labrador, more than 150 parishes in the country celebrate his feast day every 15th of May.
