Senator Sonny Angara on Friday, May 13 paid tribute to his father, the late former Senate President Edgardo J. Angara, by taking to social media and commemorating his fourth death anniversary by recalling his words on Philippine politics.
Angara shared a photo of his father giving a valedictory speech in June 5, 2013 : “Sharing words of wisdom from my father, the late former Senate President Edgardo Angara. Today, May 13, we commemorate his 4th death anniversary.”
The photo highlighted the older Angara exhorting how “good politics is also marked by close collaboration between the branches of government.”
“As Senate President, I challenged our colleagues, and the Executive, to do what seemed to be the harder thing: set aside discord and cooperate on a legislative agenda needed for economic recovery,” Angara quoted his father as saying on Facebook.
Angara also showed a tribute video “to my papa” on the fourth year of his passing.
He also captioned a photo of him and his father, together with his wife, Tootsy and two of their children with “missing our dad very much on his 4th death anniversary.”
Angara’s throwback photos had some of the commenters nostalgic, longing for the days when the Senate had a remarkable lineup of senators who are mostly lawyers.
“The good old days,” a certain Ronaldo Rocales said.
Angara’s post garnered a 109 likes as of press time.
