Re-election candidates in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, enjoy leads in partial, unofficial count


BUTUAN CITY – Incumbent officials of this region’s frontier and capital city of Butuan and Agusan del Norte province are showing the way in the counting of votes.

Incumbent City Mayor Engr. Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada (NP) garnered 97,992 votes against his rival Norbert Pagaspas of the PDP-Laban who had 58,257 in the partial unofficial count in the mayoralty race in Butuan City.

In the battle for vice-mayoralty, incumbent 1st District Rep. Law Fortun of Nacionalista Party (NP) was also leading in the partial and unofficial count with 104,305 votes against Dolly Doc Veraque’s 36,672 votes.

In Butuan City’s 1st District Congressional race, incumbent city vice-mayor Joboy Aquino of Lakas got 68,831votes against Kidz Libarios (PRP) with 65,090 votes.

In his message on Wednesday, Lagnada of One Butuan party expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all Butuanons for the trust and confidence given to him again to continue their development program and services to the residents in this fast-rising and progressive city of Butuan in Mindanao.

“Daghang Salamat sa inyong pagsalig kanako” (Thank you so much for your trust to me),” the workaholic city chief executive added.

Mayor Lagnada highlighted that his administration will pool in his resources to continuously address the pressing issues and challenges of urban poor including street children.

“Our One Butuan Team assures the people of Butuan that we will provide you with more developmental programs for the coming years,” the city Chief Executive said.

“Thank you, my fellow Butuanons,'' he said, adding ‘we will continue to work together for the progress of our beloved city.’

Mayor Lagnada wanted to create more development on economic zones, sea ports, hospitals, diagnostic centers, public schools and other mega infrastructure projects.

Mayor Lagnada and One Butuan Team party mates are set to take oath anytime today (May 11).

Meanwhile, in the gubernatorial and congressional race in the province of Agusan del Norte, incumbent and re-election officials also appeared to be on the winning end based on the partial and unofficial votes counts.

In the gubernatorial race-, incumbent Congressman in the 2nd District Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante-Matba (PDP Laban) garnered 166,971 votes against her rival Liza Aquino (Ind) who got 36,986 votes in the partial and unofficial count of votes.

In the Congressional race in this same province, incumbent Gov. Dale Corvera (PDP Laban) garnered 145,947 votes against his rival Atorni Inday Atenta of 39,385 votes.
