QC police arrest over 60 liquor ban violators on May 8-9


A total of 64 individuals were arrested in Quezon City for allegedly violating the liquor ban on Sunday, May 8, and on election day, May 9, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Wednesday, May 11.

The QCPD Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) said 33 persons were apprehended in three separate operations on Sunday. Nineteen of the violators were nabbed on Maunlad and Mabilis Streets in Barangay Pinyahan at around 1:30 a.m., while 11 others were caught at around 1:50 a.m. in Barangay Central, and three more on Campupot St. in Brgy. Roxas. Division at around 9 p.m.

Nine alleged liquor ban violators were arrested by operatives of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) at the corner of Commonwealth Ave. and Simon St. in Brgy. Holy Spirit at around 2 a.m. on the same day.

Also on May 8, operatives from Police Station 13 caught four individuals in Barangay Payatas at around 9:43 p.m., while cops from Police Station 15 collared three persons in Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa at 7:10 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) announced the arrest of eight more alleged violators in Barangay Bahay Toro.

Police said four people were nabbed on Sunday on BS Aquiono St. in Sitio Militar at around 6:42 p.m., and four others at the corner of Roads 18 and 23 on Monday.

Operatives from Masabong Police Station (PS2) also arrested seven individuals on Monday, two of them in Barangay Bungay at around 1:45 a.m., and five more violators in Barangay San Antonio at around 8:30 p.m.

All the suspects will face charges for violation of City Ordinance No. SP-2752, S-2018 (Drinking Intoxicating Liquor in Public Places) in relation to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution No. 10746 (liquor ban).
